Would you help my children learn to be technologically savvy and learn 21st century skills that will help them be ready for the real world? They need you!
We are a combination class of kindergarten and first grade children that find learning exciting and who are enthused to be at school!
They are like little sponges absorbing EVERYTHING I can teach them, and finding new things to learn on their own and from each other.
We work & learn together in a Title I school with a very high percentage of students and families living in low income homes. Our school has a large group of ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) students. While poverty and language can present big barriers for students, we are learning not to let our challenges get in the way of learning or loving life. I strive each day to help my students find joy in their lives and in being together and learning. Our class is a wonderful place to be!
My Project
Our classroom has very little technology available for use. We have a small computer station where children are able to work on typing, spelling, and educational software, and I have an old overhead projector that I can use for lessons. I have a vision for some BIG things though! I want to help my students become familiar with technology as they will be using it for the rest of their lives to learn, for fun, and to make a living someday. This is an important set of skills/knowledge, and I want to help them get started on that journey.
With this LCD projector, I can begin to display PowerPoint lessons for the entire class. We can stream short, educational videos found on Discovery where everyone can watch and discuss what we are studying. We can connect my personal laptop and do lessons together. The children can be listeners and learners, but with this technology they can also create and share! We can grow and be ready for the future world we live in!
Our future generations will be led by the children in school now.
They need experiences and tools to help them find success in the real world we live in and the work world they will enter someday. You can help my children learn about technology and how to use it to learn, communicate, and share ideas. Will you help us? We need you!
