Fun in Math!

My students need 5 Multiplication Arithmechips, 5 Equivalent Fraction Dominoes, 5 Giant Soft Cubes, Geometry Quizmo, and a Measuring Your World Probability and Statistics DVD Series.

My Students

Mr. M, your class is boring (that's a tough comment)! This may be one of my struggles as a classroom teacher. How to keep the class motivated and excited to learn math is one of the things that I really work hard at.

I am currently teaching a middle school math inclusion.

Students are diverse and have different needs and demands in terms of learning. Some students are good in computation, integration of art and technology, and in manipulation. Also, my students like to investigate and act as "real" mathematicians. The school is located in a high poverty community. The school's budget is tight! As a teacher of our future mathematician, it's my responsibility to look for alternatives to meet the varying needs and keep the learning more productive and feasible."

My Project

The project will give an opportunity for my students to learn and master math through a fun and engaging way. Letting the students play with math sometimes help them build the skills and algorithms of the concept. Students love to work on the SMART board. Integration of technology is also vital to achieve effective learning and to meet the varying needs of my students. With these minds, the statistics and probability software will give them a different perspective on how math is related to their everyday dealings. Moreover, the materials will allow my students to master basic math facts, explore the idea of collecting, displaying and analyzing data. Also, it will give them knowledge about probability.

With these materials and software, my students will have a better opportunity to learn the concepts of statistics and probability.

The project will give them more hands-on practice and technology-based activities to experience data collection, displaying data and interpreting data/results. Having said that, students will also be more competent and ready to learn high data analysis and probability skills next year.
