My Students

Do you remember what it was like when you were first learning how to read and it was hard for you when you came across words that you didn't know? My students come across these words every day and need materials that will help them with their reading.

I am a one of two special education teachers at a charter school in Indiana.

We provide services to over 50 students in a kindergarten through 12th grade environment in a resource room setting. We provide services for students with emotional, cognitive, and learning disabilities in all subject areas.

My Project

Each grade at our charter school has chosen a set of novels to read, but our students will be left behind without audiobooks to assist them. Currently, we do not have these novels available on audio, and would like to allow the students the opportunity to hear what they are reading. The students want to read and want to be able to understand what they are reading. By having the audiobook the students will be able to listen to what they are reading with the headphones. Our students love to read and want more books that they can read!

These audiobooks will help the students increase their reading comprehension, and allow them to participate in class more fully.

Currently, it is very hard for them to read and discuss a book in class. With the audiobooks available the students will have the opportunity to read and hear the book at the same time. You can help make it possible for students to realize their love of reading! Thank you!
