Writing is so important in one's life, yet most children struggle with the writing process.

My incredible 2nd grade students attend an inner-city school. Most of these children live in homes where they are not given a lot of life experiences, and there are not a lot of materials at home to document their experiences. To help my students with the important skill and mode of communication, writing, I would like them to be able to write about their experiences, thoughts, feelings, and their inspirations whenever they desire.

My Project

Having pencils and composition notebooks to carry with them and take home, will afford them the opportunity to record their dreams, thoughts, feelings, and questions in life when they arise. My students will be able to be Junior Journalists in the moment, and not have to wait until they return to school to document their life experiences or feelings.

Your generous donations will allow each of my students to have a composition notebook each quarter of the school year-in addition to having pencils.

Being able to write often, and whenever they can, will help students improve their writing skills to become perhaps journalists when they are older, or, at the very least, become better writers!
