Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Do you ever go to write a check and ask what is the date today? My students need this calendar activity to help them remember what the day of the week is, the date and what year it is. We need the sea animal counters to use for patterning, sorting and classifying.
I have a wonderful class of 22 curious first graders!
When they go to put the dates on their papers they always ask, "What is the date today?" or "What day of the week is it?". I teach at a high poverty, rural Idaho school. Funds have been cut for the rest of this year and they are reduced for next year due to the economy.
My Project
By helping to provide these items for our classroom, my students will be able to tell what the date is, the day of the week and what year it is. This activity board will also have a problem of the day, patterning, estimation and place value! The counters I requested will be used for patterning, sorting and estimation as a follow up at a math center.
By funding this project, each time you go to write a check and ask what the date is, you will smile and know that you have helped my first graders with this same issue!
This donation will greatly help my students so they can remember what day of the week it is, and what the date and year is. Besides being just a calendar, it has many more skills to teach each day such as a problem of the day, estimating and patterning. Your help in funding this project will be greatly appreciated by us all!
