Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach 2nd grade, Second Language Learners in a Title I school. We are in a high-need area with over 80% of our students qualifying for free and reduced lunch. The recent budget cuts have been devastating and extra funding for resources are extremely difficult to come by.

Because we are a Title I school, many of our students begin their school year with very few or no supplies at all.

Our families simply do not have the money to help pay for supplemental materials for their children - food and shelter are their priority. In the competitive global market our children need as much variety of educational materials as we can provide for them. Books, paper, and pencils simply are not enough; We must provide more!

My Project

Our Writing and Language Arts materials are simply inadequate for my Second Language Learners. My students require additional time and opportunities to learn the art of written expression. The materials I am requesting will provide my students with interactive, hand-on activities in Reading, Writing, Vocabulary, Grammar, and Daily Language. These experiences, which my students are currently missing, will ensure success in their future.

Your donation will provide an opportunity for fun, interactive, hands-on learning and it will ensure my students success as they grasp these difficult Second Language concepts in a new and exciting way!
