My Students

Do you remember what it was like the first time you read a chapter book that you could not put down? My students have discovered the Magic Tree House series. These beginner chapter books have captured their imaginations and made them eager to seek out non-fiction resources.

I teach an ecstatic and clever class of second graders at a high-need public school.

My students always have their nose in a book and are up very interested in science and math. After learning about the ocean, one of my students started reading the Magic Tree House series; since then this series has caught like wildfire amongst my students. The whole class jumped into the series and they love it!

My Project

These chapter books and their non-fiction companions, will allow my students to read together in literacy circles. They will be able to discuss and share their ideas on solving the mystery in each book with their peers. But most of all, these books will help to continue my student's love of reading.

Your help will help to assure that my students, both current and future, get a chance to exercise their imagination, share and discuss with their peers about quality children's literature, and will help to foster their love of reading.
