My Students

Technology is a huge part of our world today and I want my students to be able to use technology, be comfortable using it, and have fun at the same time.

Many of my students are free/reduced lunch students and do not have access to technology at home.

Therefore, I take on the responsibility of making sure they have every resource possible to stay current with the changes we are experiencing in technology.

My Project

I have each child in my class create PowerPoint presentations about themselves, their lives, hopes/dreams. Some of my students who have digital cameras at home email pictures to me to use in their presentations to make them personal. Unfortunately, not all my students are lucky enough to have the ability to take digital pictures and/or email them. If I had these digital cameras I would be able to send them home with students so that they could take pictures of their families, pets, where they live, etc. The digital cameras would also allow me to be able to do other projects and presentations with my students being able to document by photos. One project that I would do with the cameras would be with a butterfly unit and monitoring the life cycle of the monarchs that I bring into school.

This donation will provide an opportunity for my students to learn several technology skills that they otherwise would not be able to learn.

Not only that, it would make my students who are not privileged to have technology at home excited about using real pictures in their presentations. In the end, the students would be proud to show not only their pictures, but also what they are able to do using technology.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
