This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Close your ears and listen. This is what life is like for a new immigrant student.

Most of the students in our english as a second language programs are immigrants who are here out of necessity.

Many are here with extended family members. The community is economically challenged so buying is not an option. These kids want to learn. They need to learn. They can't afford to learn. There are english as a second language programs to help these children learn but no dictionaries. Dictionaries are key components to academic and personal success.

My Project

These immigrant students will be able to have the world of words at their fingertips. We will use these dictionaries on a daily basis. As a student faces a word they do not know they will be able to search its meaning through the use of a personal dictionary.

My students are socially and academically challenged everyday.

Communication is key to understanding and success. Dictionaries promote learning for these kids. They deserve a chance.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
