Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Everyone wants to write on the board and show what they know. Its just not possible in 1 hour. I truly believe my students want to be involved in the math lesson; they just have a hard time staying focused.

These first graders are energetic, capable, and smart.

They just need the proper materials to keep them engaged. They enjoy math, but sometimes they drift off or get bored during the lesson because the material and curriculum may be too hard or not engaging enough.

My Project

With these whiteboards the students will have a chance to follow along and complete math problems while I model how to solve the problem. The whiteboards will also give me a chance to check their understanding of the lesson, so I could give them further instruction if needed. Whiteboards have been proved to help daily instruction because the students will feel more accountable. These boards will also be used for science, reading, and writing.

We need your help to get charged up and excited about number sense, time, money, addition, subtraction, and so many other benchmarks in math.

A lot of the materials in the class are homemade and tear up quickly throughout the year. These sturdy whiteboards and markers will last from year to year. It will also enhance learning at a school where many kids struggle with math because of lack of motivation.
