My Students

Do you remember listening to your teacher or librarian read to you? My students struggle with understanding what good fluency sounds like. This station would give my struggling readers an opportunity to meet so many great authors and practice their fluency.

My students are determined and ambitious fifth graders.

About 90% of them are on reduced-price lunch. Many of them do not read at home or do not have any one who will listen to them read. My students do not have a lot of books at home and are not able to get to the public library or a computer to listen to stories.

My Project

This listening station will benefit my students because using this listening station will help to spark their interest in reading and help promote good fluency. The students actually participate in literacy stations during their reading block. This listening station would actually be used as a fluency station. This will allow my students to learn to be good fluent readers.

This project will make a big difference in my fifth graders lives.

This will give them an appreciation for reading, which is a life-long gift. My students enjoy listening to great stories from a variety of genres. This project will allow my students to listen to great stories every day.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
