My Students

Beam us up, Scotty! We want to leap into the high tech world with an ELMO visual presenter.

"I have the privilege of teaching first grade for the past 8 years in the same school district where I graduated from.

We are a small school district with over 50% of students qualifying for free/reduced lunches. Many students come from homes where up to date technology is not available. In the high tech world we are living in, computer skills have now become life skills!

My Project

Teaching at a Title I school often means extra funds are not available for such things like technology. I currently use an old overhead projector for many of the assignments and projects I teach my students. More often than not the money for the transparencies comes out of my own pocket or I have to write directly on the screen. First grade students are in the concrete operational stage of learning, so that means they need to SEE and manipulate things to optimize learning. Often the task of just following along on a worksheet or directions for art projects is difficult for such young students. An ELMO visual presenter takes old overhead projectors to the 21st century. ELMO's project in full color, real time. A computer can be attached and websites can be shown. ANY item placed under the presenter is projected onto the screen with the ability to zoom in for greater detail. Imagine getting to see a real, live caterpillar or fossil up close and projected onto a screen.

The impact of the ELMO visual presenter on student learning will be phenomenal.

Students will be able to follow along on assignments and projects easily, make photo slide shows to present, project from a microscope, visit the Great Pyramids, Amazon River, the possibilities are endless!
