My Students

If you have ever been around any kid, you know quickly how much they LOVE video games. Let's bring that excitement into the classroom!

I teach children in a very needy neighborhood, with many students having faced things that would make most adults shudder at the thought.

For these kids, gangs, drugs, and death are all too real. School is a safe place for them, a place we need them to stay in order to break the cycle.

My Project

Everyone knows how much kids love video games, so why not bring that into the classroom to use as motivation or rewards? These kids will have the opportunity to get out of their seats and be engaged while exercising and having fun! By having a Wii in the classroom, the kids can learn teamwork, sportsmanship, and have a motivation/reward for being a good kid. Time to be a kid!

Many of these kids have heard of the Wii, but very few actually have them due to their families' economic status.

This would give every child the opportunity to play, and give a little more push for something to work for. Most of my kids do not have support at home, so there is really no one to hold them accountable, because no one cares. Therefore, they think that they should have no reason to care either. With your help, we can give them a reason to care, do their work, and stay in school!
