Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach in an elementary school in Texas. My school is predominantly low income. Moreover, many of our students are at risk.

Most of my students do not have a computer.

As a result many do not have Internet access at home. Thus, many of them know nothing at all about using computers. Also, many of them experience difficulty finishing computer assignments due to their lack of experience with a computer and having to share computers at school.

My Project

It has always been a dream of mine to have a computer for each student in my classroom. With another computer in my classroom, students' wait time for a computer will be reduced. More importantly, students will be able to use computers in an everyday context as opposed to watching a demonstration with little or no real life use of a computer.

By supporting this project, students in my class will have more access to technology in their everyday lives.

Moreover, students will gain confidence and pride in their computer skills instead of being intimidated by computers.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
