My Students

Capture the moment! A challenge that I have as a Technology Facilitator is availability of equipment. Digital photography is a unique class we offer at our urban, Title I school. With the ever increasing class sizes and older cameras becoming non-functional, we need more cameras.

Our students are some of the most eager shutterbugs I have ever seen!

They are a very diverse group of students that work hard to learn the art of digital photography. We are in need of eight digital cameras to maintain the high standards that my students have constructed for their technological educations.

My Project

Our digital photography class teaches students how to use the cameras, how to be safe with the cameras, and the art of taking a great picture. We cover some of the basic rules of photography, such as "framing" and "the rule of thirds." The second half of the course is for the students to help accumulate enough pictures for our yearbook. The goal at the end of the course is to have a yearbook that is full of beautiful pictures that have been taken by our own students.

With the use of these new cameras, we will be able to keep our digital photography alive.

Through this class the students will display their photos throughout the school and in our school's art show as well as in their own homes. Students will be able to take pride in their work being on display.
