This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Do you remember the first time you helped bake a cake? Many of my students have eaten cakes, but not put the pieces together to create something new. My science class needs an easy bake oven to create a chemical reaction (a cake). This activity will tie directly into our state and district standards
I teach seventh grade in a rural district.
My school is a title one school struggling to meet the needs of our students. My students are intrigued by science and love to participate in hands-on activities. Many of my students do not have the means to conduct activities or labs outside the classroom.
My Project
This resource will enable my students to vividly see science come to life. We discuss that a chemical reaction is making something new, but it will be awesome for the students to create something new (something they can eat)! If you help to provide this opportunity for them, you will inspire their learning.
This project will impact my students for years to come.
Every time they eat a slice of cake, or later in life bake a cake, they will remember that it is a chemical reaction. Chemistry is a piece of cake!
