Internationally minded school needing authentic musical instruments from Latin America! My students listen to authentic music from all over Latin America and would love to be able to use an authentic hand drum, shakers, and floor drums in the classroom.
We have a unique school where our curriculum focuses on inquiry and experiencing different cultures, perspectives, and languages.
I teach International Studies to all 450 of our students and their classroom teachers twice a week, including those with special needs. My program focuses on the culture, literature, geography, politics, music, food, and history of Spanish speaking countries. In addition to these learning opportunities, I also teach the Spanish language in context by connecting our learning to useful and meaningful experiences in math and other core subject areas.
My Project
Our Obstacle: Unfortunately, our instrument collection is limited and the students are lacking hands-on experience with world instruments. In this proposal, I have requested a variety of different musical instruments (hand and floor drums, shakers, and tambourines). My students love to play music and these resources will enrich their multicultural music experience.
