My Students

It is very different to talk to students about what a frog egg looks like and to actually be able to see what is inside up close.

I teach an exceptional bunch of first grades in a rural school in Missouri.

They are very inquisitive as most seven-year-old tend to be. Science is their favorite subject! They love doing the experiments where they use their hands. The students have not been exposed to different types of science tools.

My Project

The microscopes would be used in our classroom when we are studying plants, animals, and objects. The students would learn that everything is made up of matter and some matter you can't see just by looking at it. When we study plants they would be able to look at different plant parts with the microscopes. When we have our animal unit, the students would see a bee or butterfly wings.

I have wanted to buy microscopes for my class but haven't been able to.

Science is so important and often overlooked for reading and math. I believe every child needs to experience the world of science. It is easier to foster their sense of curiosity and wonder at a young age.
