My Students

Our beloved classroom rug is hanging on by a thread. It has seen better days.

My students come to me with many challenges.

School is a refuge for many of them where they can enjoy learning and it is a place where they can focus on just being a kid. Barbara Colorose said that "If kids come to us from strong, healthy functioning families, it makes our job easier. If they do not come to us from strong, healthy, functioning families, it makes our job more important."

My Project

Our classroom rug has served us well. I have taught in this second grade classroom for eight years and the rug was here before me. A classroom rug allows the students to gather in close to hear a story or to listen to their classmates share. I love having a rug in the classroom, but we need a new one.

We have done our best to enjoy and take care of our classroom rug but unfortunately it doesn't last forever.

A new rug will bring smiles to my students faces this year and for many years to come. Thank You!
