My Students

Do you remember how uninspired you were in elementary school staring at an overhead all day? Wouldn't it be awesome to have a projection camera that can be used in all subject areas to keep students engaged and excited about learning!

I teach fifth grade to a group of 10 and 11 year old boys and girls.

They are today's generation that has become accustomed to television and video games preoccupying their after school time at home. It is hard to compete with the technology that is available at home and I want to be able to bring it into the classroom. This will allow me to keep them engaged and excited with school like they are with their after school activities. I teach all subject areas to my class and we could use this camera projection system to "spice" up everything the kids are learning.

My Project

I can not begin to explain all of the different ideas I have with how to use the camera projection system. We can use it during writing class and the kids can share their own personal writing to the entire class. This will allow the students to discuss ways to edit and revise their writing. During math class I can use manipulatives to teach concepts to students who are more visual learners. We will be able to continue our shared reading time during class, except with the camera I will be able to display the words on the board so that the kids can follow along or look at the illustrations. I can use it in social studies to display maps and I can use it to display materials for science in order for my students to understand how to read the measuring devices. I won't have to use countless sheets of paper each year running off copies, I'll just use my camera to display directions, charts, and practice work.

Please help me to share my love of learning to the students that I teach.

I want them to be engaged so that they are prepared for 6th grade next year. I truly feel that having a camera projection system will get my kids excited about learning and will allow me to reach every type of learner.
