My Students

Spelling can be fun! I am always looking for ways to make spelling practice fun for the students. Magna doodles are another way to motivate students to practice!

We are a first grade classroom of 25 students in southern Iowa.

We are in a small school in a poor district, over 50% poverty rate. Our budgets have been cut so deeply, there is not enough money for essentials, let alone extras. I do whatever I can to provide my students with a fun, creative, hands-on education.

My Project

We would love to have a class set of mini Magna Doodles to practice our spelling words, which is called Work on Words, and is part of our reading program, the Daily Five. These are a great motivator for students and much more fun than pencil and paper! It is a hands-on way to learn spelling as well as reduce the use of paper! We would also be able to use these in math to practice many of our concepts such as addition and subtraction facts, greater than and less than, fractions, and counting by 2's, 5's and 10's.

Having a class set of the Magna Doodles will allow all students to achieve success with a fun, hands-on activity.

They will be able to use them for spelling and math practice, which is far more motivating then pencil and paper!
