It's All About The Popcorn...Words!!

My students need 11 center games to help them learn POPCORN WORDS (sight words) and to learn familiar words they will see when reading.

My Students

In the old days we called them "sight words" now I call them POPCORN WORDS!! Kindergarten kids are being expected to know more and read earlier EVERY year. It is a challenge to find ways to teach children the challenging things they must know in a way that is still FUN and good for KINDER KIDS!!

My kids are so super excited about learning to read.

Popcorn Word work centers help them build their knowledge of Popcorn words and familiar words they will see when reading. Somehow changing the label from "sight words" to popcorn words has added instant motivation! We are popping out good readers!!!!

My Project

Beginning readers need to have a well stocked group of sight words they know to help transition into the world of reading. It is my job as a teacher to make sure each of my students leaves kindergarten with that skill they need to be SUPER READERS!!

A five year child's job is to play.

Combining play with learning is a winning combination. With your help they will learn everything they need to open up the world of reading while they play!! What is better than that???
