Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We may be high poverty and high English Second Language, but we are not low achievers. My students are faced with low socioeconomic and language barriers daily, but do not let these challenges dictate their future.

There are 72% English Second Language students in the Middle School where I teach.

These students are considered high poverty and have reached a school-wide status with Free and Reduced Lunches. My students, however, are very motivated and creative. These students are willing to work hard and enjoy challenging projects.

My Project

The students are embarking on a project to create Wall Street, stock market savvy, money conscientious lifelong financially stable adults. The students will be creating a portfolio as they learn about the function of stock markets, advantages and disadvantages of saving or spending money, comparing various interest rates, discussing the effects of economic inflation, contemplating the role of the Federal Reserve, and examining the costs/benefits associated with global trade. The students will carefully track their stocks, chart progress or decline, and compare with fellow classmates. With this document camera, the students will be able to display their information, discuss and compare fellow students and look at multiple charts simultaneously to compare each students' progress. The students will be able to take pictures with a camera and transfer to the document camera for class viewing. The students will also be able to capture images from the Internet and display for discussion.

This donation will make a tremendous differences in my students technology in the classroom.

They will be able to work together and individually at the Elmo to display, summarize, report, add additional information and delete information. The students can use this to work with the class as we discuss this important part of the future of our youth. This can also be used in other ways including map study, advertising and marketing, and studying major river systems in the United State
