Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Remember the old Chinese proverb, "I hear and I forget, I see and I remember, I do and I understand"? I want my kinder students to explore and discover science. This will enable them to develop their critical thinking skills, as well as discovering scientific concepts.

My kindergarten students attend school in a large, urban district in a high need community.

Unfortunately, due to living in a large city, most of their time is spent indoors either at home and at school! I want to help my students explore, discover, and learn about science so that they can better understand and learn about their surroundings!

My Project

The resources that I have requested will help me better equip their science center. I have bought some stuff at the dollar store or at the thrift shop but there are so many more hands-on science resources that we need! The Discovery Nature Kit, the binoculars, the safety goggles, and the various small science kits contain hands-on materials that will help them experience science in action!

If these students are given an opportunity to "explore and discover" using these hands-on science activities, they will remember the material better, feel a sense of accomplishment when the task is completed, and be able to transfer their experiences easier to other learning situations!

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
