My Students

I teach an 11th grade Advanced Placement (AP) Language and Composition course. My students live in a high-need community and often times do not have the supplies they need to be successful in the classroom. The school is a magnet school and has a special focus for visual and performing arts.

The students who need these books are enrolled in advanced placements classes.

They all have GPA's of 3.0 or higher and are the top ranked students in their grade level. Unfortunately, the English department does not always have the materials or supplies needed for success. I want my bright, young students to succeed in English. And, to do that, they must have books!

My Project

I need a classroom set of "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings" so that my students will be able to read the book during class. We do not have enough copies to go around to all of the students. These novels will go home with the students over summer break so that they can complete the required advanced placement summer reading project.

Your donations will ensure that my AP students will have the materials they need in order to be successful.

AP classes are rigorous and every student MUST have their own copy of the novel for learning.
