Under The Sea

My students need sand, glue, sea life manipulatives and a sea life themed library to complete a reading unit project called Under the Sea as well as resources to better enhance their learning about the theme.

My Students

Do you remember ever having to hand in an incomplete project or a project that you were not proud of? My students have limited access or no access to creative materials that they can use for this culminating unit project.

The school is a Title I school and it is located in one of the worst areas of my community.

My initiative is to provide my students with opportunities that they otherwise would not have exposure to. These Kindergarten students have so much creativity and talent to offer. I would love more participation in this unit theme project then I had in a past unit project. Of my 17 students, only about 8 students were able to participate and even they were limited to environmental materials.

My Project

If shoe boxes, glue, blue saran wrap, sea animals, and sand are provided for the students they will be able to create projects that they are proud of. With these materials my students will not have to use toothpaste to glue things on to their shoe box. My students will gain a better understanding about the under water environment using resource materials and by recreating an "Under the Sea" project with appropriate materials like the sea creatures, sand, and blue saran wrap. Please help my students to create amazing and thoughtful Under the Sea projects.

The donations for this project will be divided amongst all of the students to create their projects.

They will not have to worry about feeling embarrassed because they do not have a project to submit. The students will have the ability to express their creativity using a variety of materials. The impact that this project will have on the students will be that they can connect and create a representation of what they have been learning about throughout their reading theme.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
