My Students

Children experience and learn history, cultures and music in many ways I would LOVE to include in my music room! I have collected photos of instruments, musicians, places in a notebook and pass around ancient pictures from magazines, etc. for the students to understand what I hope to convey.

Like most, My students, learn with technology in science and math.

Music teaches these and more! If my students could see the lyrics, instruments, historical people and places, cultures I have on my power points, photo collections, etc. on the screen in my room - I KNOW they would better learn. Example - The last few months, I taught 4th graders a roaring-fun musical of "Lewis and Clark." It recently turned out FABULOUS and the 4th graders were very proud of themselves. All through this musical, I passed photos I found on line and in books of Sacajawea, Merriwether Lewis, William Clark, York and Charbonneau, even the dog-Seaman among the students during music. I held up books... you get the picture! Help! I NEED an LCD projector...!

My Project

With an LCD projector I would show the power point I put together for the last 4 musicals, which we COULD show in the multi-purpose room when parents arrived, as their kids sang the correlating music. The students could not see this except on my tiny monitor in the music room. The rushing Columbia River just did not come across on a twelve inch monitor! Other units I have desperately wished my students to see on the giant screen during music - Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, The Beatles, Irish step dance DVD, ALL the educational DVDS that CAME with the music books, didgeridoo/Australia, Shelale/Ireland, The Cliffs of Dover, my dream list to SHOW during songs, and GIANT lyrics, is ENDLESS!

Arts is loved but cannot be funded as we hope.

PLEASE help my students learn with an LCD projector. I have already completed the work for dozens of music units. Also, the electronic music book CD Roms are gathering dust in the closet!
