My Students

To create active citizens of our country and of the world my students need the opportunity to understand that the world does not stop outside of their town. They need to realize how big the world actually is!

My students come from a very low socioeconomic area.

We have faced massive funding cuts over the last 15 months. We no longer have the opportunities to provide our students with a lot of hands on activities that use materials. Our school can no longer afford to provide materials and I cannot afford enough consumable materials for 100+ students. With these reusable kits, not only will my students benefit, but they can be shared with the entire school!

My Project

These map kits will allow the students to form their own clay models of landforms, the world, and the USA. After the clay has set, the students then will paint the maps using different colors for different regions, then label the maps. The students will be able to better understand the differences in geographical landforms, the continents, and their country. With these kits the students will be using their hands. As Gardner's multiple intelligence research shows us, the more the students can practice, play, and see information, the more they will be able to retain it.

Living in the low socioeconomic area that I live in, my students do not get the opportunities for enriching activities such as this one often simply because it can not be afforded.

Any help would be so greatly appreciated, not only by me but by my students and future students (since these are reusable)!
