Awesome Science Investigations for Science Fair

My students need 30 USB flash drives to effectively save their research and compositions for the science fair between school and home.

My Students

Have you ever composed a document and then had no way to save it for later use? My students need flash drives to enable them to continue to work on their science fair projects and research from home, regardless of whether they have Internet access or access to their school files.

Our school is in a rural setting in Kansas.

The district is geographically large. Our school has about 350 students in grades 7-12. Over 70% of the students qualify for free and reduced lunches. My students in grade 7 & 8 are exceptionally bright and motivated. They strive to be successful. My students are curious and self-disciplined. They love to use the computers as resources for research. They are also very proficient in compiling information and creating projects.

My Project

My students are encouraged to produce quality science fair projects each year. With the availability of computers and the Internet at school the students use those tools to look for ideas and complete their research. While most of the written/printed work for the fair is completed at school, the need often arises for students to take their work home with them. Information stored on the school server is not accessible from home. In addition, not all of the students have internet at home, even if they have a computer. The requested flash drives will allow students to continue their projects at home. Many of my students go on to compete in the Regional and State science fairs. In addition, the flash drives would aide the students when working on other research or essays.

Students benefit greatly from the ability to save their work and continue at another computer in a different location.

The flash drives will allow students to put sufficient thought and effort into projects if they know they are not limited to only class time.
