Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Most of my students come from impoverished households with struggling parents. The students do not get the benefit of having many learning materials at home to help them acquire the skills they need for 1st grade.

My school is a highly impoverished school with three-fourths of the students on free and reduced lunch.

Many of them struggle with bringing in the basic supplies needed for classwork. Many of them don't even have these supplies available for homework at home. My students are hardworking children who love to learn, and thrive on learning through hands-on activities. They love to help me teach while they are learning. They are amazing considering the many challenges they have already faced in their young lives.

My Project

The pocket charts I have requested will be used during our circle time. This is when we do many of our general math and language skills. The students are the teachers during circle time. One student gets up to direct and call on the other students for responses. It is an excellent way for me to get my students more involved in their own learning process.

I am excited about these pocket charts.

I know the children will love using them to learn and teach with everyday in circle time. I love getting things that help my students interact with each other in a print rich learning environment.
