My Students

Rock Band has piqued our interest and we are budding guitarists. Please help us maintain our instruments and keep them in excellent playing condition.

My students are typical 6th and 7th grade students who enjoy music.

Our school offers a rotating curriculum that provides students the opportunity to take nine weeks of art, music, computers/Career Module and Spanish. In the general music classroom, they especially enjoy making music and playing guitars. We are the only junior high school in the area that offers a guitar curriculum and we are proud of it.

My Project

My students need guitar strings, stands and picks to use during our guitar unit. These are true consumables that we need. Throughout our guitar unit we are able to play 3/4 size classical guitars. We play a wide variety of music and connect to various musical genres. From 12 bar blues to folk, to rock and roll, we are able to excite students by using an instrument that is modern and interesting to them.

It is often difficult to find engaging music units that are exciting to junior students - especially the boys.

It is always exciting to have students come to class and say they were so intrigued by what they learned in class that they approached their parents about buying a guitar.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
