Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The third grade Social Studies curriculmn in third grade is Communities Around the World. The children really enjoy learning about the different continents and the variety of similarities and differences between them. I have recently began a unit on Egypt. This is my first time doing this unit.

All of the third grade children were given the opportunity to prioritize their choices of country.

There were five to choose from. So every Tuesday the kids go to different classrooms to learn about one of the countries they requested. The group that comes to my room is great. They are a true heterogeneous group. Some of the are English Language Learners, others are in the top (alpha class), some are in a CTT (Collaborative Team Teaching), and the rest are general education students. It is really great to see them all working and learning together.

My Project

I am requesting books because I feel that literature is a great way for children to learn. The illustrations are support for the children that are learning English and those with special needs. What I really like about books is that the children can borrow them and share their excitement about Egypt with children that are studying other countries and their families.

These books will be an asset to the classroom.

The children can use them for research and as inspiration for artwork. I will allow them to borrow them and take them home to share with their families. Please donate and make our wishlist come true.
