My Students

"If we teach today as we taught yesterday, we rob our children of tomorrow." -John Dewey. Our students today live and thrive in a digital age. They learn through hands-on projects, Internet research, creating PowerPoint presentations ... just to name a few. Without a working computer, this just isn't possible.

My wonderful students range from Kindergarten through 4th grade.

I am a special education teacher of students with learning disabilities, mental impairments, as well as other health issues. Many tasks are difficult for my students, but that doesn't stop any of them from doing their best. My students are hard workers, and see me as just another teacher, instead of their special educator. While certain things may be more difficult, the possibilities are endless for my students and nothing will hold them back! Because of confidentiality, the picture with this project is of the fourth grade class that I co-teach for the reading portion.

My Project

My students deserve to have working computers in their classroom! I am requesting 2 HP computers for my students to use. When they type an assignment, they will easily be able to correct spelling mistakes that they otherwise would not have noticed. They will be able to use the Internet to research projects and Powerpoint to bring those projects alive. They will be able to play educational games, helping them learn without realizing it!
