My Students

Is literacy valuable to you? Many of our students appreciate the wealth of knowledge that reading can provide, yet they cannot access the tools to apply and share their wisdom and growth on a global level.

My students reside in a rural, close-knit community, and they desire to learn about the expanding world around them.

They do not have access to large museums, libraries, or universities, yet they are interested in becoming vital members of society. They are kind, strong-willed, eager individuals that want to better themselves. Our school is small and thus, lacks many resources that are needed to create students that are successful in the competitive college setting.

My Project

These resources are designed to be used with my class in conjunction with a class from the middle school and the elementary school. The plot of each book is the same, but each is written at a different age-appropriate level. The students will read this memoir and participate in a community book talk in hopes to foster literacy and global education to parents, staff, and students.

The theme of this true story, that education is critical and available to those who seek it, applies to our community, and country as a whole.

My belief is that this project will motivate those who participate to become educated citizens of the world.
