My Students

Wow is my favorite word to hear when my students pick up a magazine article about a current event such as animal updates, weather fascinations, or people in other parts of the world. It really helps my students to see and understand about things that in the world.

I teach a group of cognitive disabled middle school students.

This is a wonderful class that has many abilities. Their functional level is compared to that of a kindergarten to third grade level. I appreciate the current magazines such as Time for Kids and Weekly Reader because they are written at the student's level of understanding.

My Project

By using Time for Kids and the Weekly Reader, students will learn about current events. It will give the opportunity for the students to converse with their regular education peers about a current topic. It will present good ideas for conversation starters and topics for discussion.

Having the use of the Time for Kids and the Weekly Readers, will be an exciting way for my students to gain interest and build vocabulary in areas that they may not currently know anything about.
