This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

LIGHTS, _______, ACTION! The only thing missing is the CAMERA. Every week my Acting/Improv class impresses me with their enthusiasm and talent. Yet, I have no way to show them their creativity. The HP flip camcorders will play an important role in helping them further develop their skills.

"My students are amazing.

They are creative, upbeat and highly motivated. Unfortunately, our school does not have as many supplies as many of the suburban schools. I work in an inner city K-8 school in New York. Most of my students come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. They are very talented in acting, singing, dancing and improvisation.

My Project

Every time we do a skit or an improvisation exercise, the students will have a chance to watch themselves. The camcorders are great tools in helping the students grow as actors. The class will be able to see what they are doing well and what they need to improve on. Playing back the scene will allow students to examine their facial expressions, body language and listen carefully to how they sound. The HP flip cameras will be very helpful in helping these young actors improve their craft.

When budget cuts come around, the first thing that gets cut is the arts.

I don't want this to happen to my students. Arts are an essential part of a well rounded education. My students are talented, enthusiastic and very motivated. I want them to have the same opportunities as students in more affluent schools.
