My Students

Math and Science is our future!! This project is to provide manipulatives for a small group of volunteers to run a FREE math and science camp for students in our district who want to fall in love with Math or Science or BOTH!!

I work with students from 5th grade to 8th grade at our district math center.

Our district is predominantly military with over 36,000 students. Our district has over 30 elementary schools with 29 of them being Title One, whereas over 80% of them are on free or reduced lunch. Because these students are military, they are constantly moving, forbidding them from really forming a true love with math or science. The math center provides tutoring to our students free of charge. The math center will close its doors on May 28th. We have 2 1/2 months before school starts again. Research states that practice makes perfect. We want to provide these students with practice during the summer at a Math/Science camp, free of charge!!

My Project

The resources I am requesting are a combination of both math and science manipulatives. I have enlisted volunteers to work in a summer math and science camp to continue our free help to our students. However, the cost of the supplies is not within our reach. These supplies will help our dream of helping others come true.

Please help us make a difference in the future of the students whose parents spend the majority of the time defending our country.

Help fill the gaps between their math and science skills by allowing us to volunteer to help as many of these students as possible. Who knows, one of them might be another Issac Newton or Albert Einstein.
