My Students

"Great changes may not happen right away, but with effort even the difficult may become easy."- Bill Blackman. Many things grown adults take advantage of begin as struggle for many students with Intellectual Disabilities. Independence is a valuable goal for every individual.

I have the privilege of working with students who have Intellectual Disabilities.

They are all hard working individuals who strive to do well in the classroom. There are a total of 16 students in the classroom and all of them bring their own spark to the classroom. They are a joy to work with and they make coming to work easy.

My Project

Since I am in charge of a program for students with Intellectual Disabilities it is my job to make sure that they can be productive citizens of society. I teach them life skills such as banking, social skills, how to act in a job setting, and how to survive on their own after high school. The materials that I am requesting will allow me to set up an apartment for the students so they can learn the responsibilities that come along with owning and taking care of a home or place of residence.

These students need constant hands on activities and will flourish if things can be shown to them in a real life environment rather than just on a worksheet.
