Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

It is never to early for students to do career exploration and develop 21st century skills to be ready for the world of work after graduation.

My students are bright, strong thinkers, creative, college bound students.

The students are excited about learning and being creative. They are goal setters and achievers looking forward to what the future holds. Our school is geared toward implementing 21st century skills. We are a title one school with up to date technology, creative teachers with enthusiastic attitudes toward learning and growing as a team.

My Project

The materials that I'm requesting are grade school books about various careers. Each book talks about a specific job that students can read and then do further research. The students will read the books in our reading room which is available to the entire school during each grade levels lunch time. The students will learn about various careers, peaking their interest and desire for further research. This is a great addition to our college fair, and college day as a way of preparing them to be productive members of society.

The reading room we have at our school has lots of books but nothing about careers.

I believe students need to begin thinking and exploring college options and careers as early as grade four. These books will give students the opportunity to read about various jobs so that they can begin to develop an interest in planning their future careers. They need to know the expectation for jobs.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
