My Students

As the United States continues to compete in a global economy that demands innovation, we need to provide tools and resources necessary to fully engage students in learning. Our school is working hard to maintain the technological advances for which we have striven.

Our fifth class would like to (iPod) Touch the future with technology.

We are part of a large intermediate school with over 700 students. There are ten fourth grade classes, nine fifth grade classes, and nine sixth grade classes. Many of our students' ancestors were raised in this same small town. The county's largest employer (General Motors) just shut its doors, and our local economy is struggling. Our rural school community continues to watch the increasing number of free/reduced lunch applications and ELL student population grow.

My Project

We would like to be able to interview older adults about what their lives were like when they were 11 years old. When we study the constitution, we’d like to be able to find real world examples and demonstrate how the amendments affect our lives. We'd like to share all we learn with the world via weekly or monthly podcasts. The requested technology would allow us to create podcasts, use social studies and math related apps, quickly research answers to academic questions, and more. Do you know what happened on this day in history? If we would have access to three iPod Touches, we could research that answer, write an engaging response, record it on the iPod Touch, and people could subscribe to our podcast and know exactly what happened on this day in history.

In the midst of community chaos with lost jobs and income, you can let us shine a light with our enthusiastic and informational podcasts.
