Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Remember when your brothers and sisters came home able to read? How envious you were of them? Well that's the dilemma my class is facing. They have learned their letters and know their sounds. But now are having a hard time putting them all together to make words so they can read on their own.

I teach 25 wonderful Kindergarten children.

These children no matter how hard they try, do not always get the encouragement they need to succeed from home. That leaves us at school to support and encourage them to by ourselves. Many times they get discouraged and give up. If they give up where will they be at 10 or 20? We can't let this happen.

My Project

With your help, we can prevent this from happening. If my children had word making activities, they would be able to put the knowledge of the sounds they have to good use. They would think they are "playing", but we will know they are learning. With your help they will be able to see the sounds in front of them on a phonics chart or a puzzle and be able to put it with other sounds to form a word. These activities will also help the different levels in my class, as children will be able to work together on an activity where all will succeed.

With your help we can encourage these children to not give up.

To use what they already know and expand on it. With your help these children will leave center time feeling proud of themselves knowing that they can and will succeed despite what anyone does or doesn't say to them. They will soon be the brother or sister coming home reading to the younger sibling,but this time they will have the knowledge and the ability to teach that younger sibling what they know. But only with your help!
