I am the Behavioral/Instructional Aide at our school. As the title may suggest, I deal with children who have behavior problems from grades K-4. I also assist in teaching math. Due to the socio-economic level in our area, we have many children who are in need of help.

We are currently faced with the situation of not having a place the children can go to when they have earned privileges because of good behavior. We have lots of interventions and incentives for the troubled children, but have none for those children who earn it consistently.

We thought that creating a "student lounge" for those children would be a good idea. Teachers could reward their great students with a "student lounge pass" when they have earned it. There they could play board games, video games, read, play on computers, or just relax during recess time. This will teach the children that good behavior is rewarded. We are asking for 4 bean bag chairs and several board games for the students to play.

With your help, we could make this possible for our students. We can give them a fun, safe place to "hang-out" so to speak, just because they deserve it. Then they would know that their good behavior has not gone unnoticed, and that good behavior is rewarded.
