We Are The Future!

My students need 11 Career Education books, including "Career Ideas for Kids Who Like Computers" and 8 biographies, including Einstein and Michelle Obama.

My Students

I have very capable students that don't put in the effort to succeed. Many of my students have not grasped the value of education. By sharing the opportunities that may lie ahead I hope to inspire my students to work hard and create a life path that is full of choices.

I teach 3 blocks of 4th grade, totaling 50 students.

The school I teach at is in an urban, high need area. Many of my students say they go to school because they "have to". I want my students to come because they are working on fulfilling their dreams. My students lack the "I want" attitude that is needed to succeed. They don't take their learning seriously, so they aren't seeing what they are fully capable of. My students need to dream, set goals, and aspire to be the most capable they can be. A set of books on successful people and future careers will help them start imagining their futures and own up to their potential.

My Project

I am requesting books to complete a "Reach for the Stars" section in my classroom. I created a bulletin board showcasing past and present notable people. I also left a space for the notable people of the future. The books I'm requesting will give students an opportunity to learn more about what they want and how they will achieve it. After they have read the books and explored we will complete goal setting activities and essays about their futures. Eventually, I will place my student's pictures in the "future notable people" space. These books are a vital part of my plan to build the "I want" attitude my students need to succeed. They need to explore their strengths and interests, so they can set goals. Then realize that succeeding in school is the first step to reaching those goals. They are already excited about the thought of seeing their pictures added to the bulletin board. I can't wait to show them the possibilities that lie ahead. I need these books to make my plan complete.

This project will invest my students in their schoolwork and get them on track to succeed.

Please help inspire and motivate my students to believe that they really can be whatever they want. These books will allow them to dream of the possibilities that lie ahead. Your donation will help create a lasting desire to learn and achieve.
