Help My Special Needs Students Learn Daily Living Skills

My students need a video camera to see video of real people using appropriate daily living skills.

Make a difference in the lives of teenagers and adults with special needs!! I teach students, ages 16-21, with moderate to severe special needs. The classes I teach focus on daily living skills: math for daily living, science for daily living, and adapted business.

My students are concrete learners who would benefit from seeing video of themselves and others using their daily living skills correctly. Examples would be buying a snack from the vending machine, making a sandwich, or dialing a phone. This seems simple to many of us, but this is a challenge for my students.

Being able to use a video camera in the school and community setting will enable my students to practice their daily living skills with positive feedback. They will take pride in their accomplishments and see where they need to improve. They can provide each other with positive support and encouragement. For many, this may be the first time they see themselves on TV!

You will make it possible for my students to learn the essential daily skills that many of us take for granted. Thank you so much for your consideration!
