Please help share some "Pearls" of Wisdom. I teach English to approximately 140 high school sophomores in a high-poverty school.

With the current budget crunch crisis, my school cannot afford to buy new books for my students. The current novels are falling apart, and some are missing pages and entire chapters.

I would love to have 50 new copies of John Steinbeck's "The Pearl" for my students. Many of my lower-income students can relate to the themes of this book, which include greed and the struggles of those living in poverty. This book not only captivates the reluctant readers but also challenges my honors students.

Your help will make it possible for my students to read a classic story of a poor fisherman who discovers a great pearl that could change his life. The themes of the novel (poverty, hope, greed) will appeal to even the most reluctant of readers. Please help make this happen!
