Second Graders Need Individual Attention I am a second grade teacher in a public school in Middle Tennessee. I teach Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, Spelling, and Reading.

I want to provide my students with the individual attention that they need and deserve in the classroom,specifically in Reading and Math. In Reading and Math students need differentiated instruction. It is sometimes difficult to reach the needs of students that are at a very high level and students that need additional support at the same time. I have discovered some tools that allow all students to work on the individual skills that they need while having a great time!

Reading Comprehension Hot Dot kits help students practice comprehension skills with Hot Dot-powered excitement! This set has reading selections for each reading level from grades 2 to 6. After reading the story on the front of the card, the student flips it over to tackle four multiple-choice questions designed to test specific reading comprehension skills. The student can touch his answer choice with a Hot Dots Power Pen for immediate feedback or can write down his A, B, C, D answer choices and check them against the included answer key. Stories include many genres aligned to reading standards. These cards can be used to challenge advanced readers and to assist others. The Hot Dot Math kit also provides immediate feedback with the Hot Dot pen, and can be used with teacher assistance or as individual practice.

Our children are our most important resource. I believe that if they do not have a firm foundation in the elementary years, they could be at risk of failure, or in a constant battle to catch-up with a challenging and compact curriculum. Students and teachers alike are under increasing pressure each year. When I find tools that can make learning fun and memorable for students, I will do everything that I can to provide them with those tools!
