Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Grab a spot! Oh how wonderful it would be for every child to be able to sit and see all that goes on each morning in first grade.

My students love being able to go from working at desks to sitting on the floor for circle time,story time, any time. But what fun is it when you just sit on the regular floor? We need a home to "criss cross applesauce" comfortably!

Each day we start our class off by going over the calender. Much of our learning goes on right in front of the calender on the floor. How great it would be for each child to be able to go right to the floor to their special spot on a colorful rug. By adding a student rug with a space for each child to sit, it will save time and so much more! We will all have our own area to sit, no more touching our neighbors, arguing to sit by a best friend, or the dreaded save a spot argument.

In first grade being able to get up and move from one place to another is very important. We do much of our learning on the floor sitting,listening,working and watching. For each child to have a "spot" to return to each time we move to the floor from our desk would be a great thing. With as much time spent sitting on the floor, it would be wonderful for all of us to to be able to do so on a big, bright, rug.
