Do we have to play inside again? Imagine being an 8 year old in a small classroom all day and only getting to play outside 2 times in the last two months because of snow. This is a reality for my students. I teach third grade in a very low socio-economic community where many of my students do not get much physical activity at home. My classroom is the reading intervention room for third grade. Many of my students struggle in reading and math and are not motivated in the classroom. Many of the same students are not very physically active at home and cannot be as active as needed because of the limitations of our classroom space.

During the winter months my students often have to play in our small classroom and do not get the required physical activity growing children need. We play games inside my classroom during recess when we cannot go outside because of bad weather, but since we have had at least 60 inches of snow in the last two months alone we have only been able to play outside 2 times in the past two months. We cannot use the gym during recess because of enrichment classes in the gym. My students often get bored of the games we play in class and are not motivated to be physically active in our small classroom. HELP get my kids on track with PHYSICAL ACTIVITY!!!

My students, like other children their age, love and get excited over video games. Whereas having a Wii would get them more involved and motivated in physical activities. The Wii would also be a great motivator for students who are not interested in academics in the classroom. When students get motivated and are successful they can have additional physical activity by being rewarded with additional Wii time. The main goal of having a Wii would be to get students motivated and, most importantly, physically active.

You can empower my students to become physically fit, highly motivated students by helping them to get a Wii. Imagine students dancing and playing, while exercising and becoming physically active. Help my students get the exercise they need and feel they are special in the process!
