I teach all day Kindergarten in a high poverty school in Oklahoma. The students in my class come from varied homes in terms of family involvement, family dynamics, and income.

Despite their different backgrounds and home situations, all of my students have this commonality: a love for learning. My students are eager learners. They are proud of their individual accomplishments and they come to school hungry to learn more. Because our district is facing major budget cuts and our school is classified as high poverty, most of the classroom furniture in my room is second hand and is not in good shape. Some of my furniture will fall apart while in use and I have to try to fix the broken parts myself. My students make great use of what we have, because they do not know any different, but I believe they deserve more; I believe they deserve the best.

I need a couch and coffee table to complete my classroom library. Additionally, I need a new writing table and two chairs to make a functional writing center. These furniture items will allow my students to focus on the objectives of the activities that they are engaged in and not have to pause to try to fix something that is loose or come and get me to fix something that breaks. These pieces of furniture are age appropriate, so they are made for students of this age and they are very durable and sturdy so my students can use these items for years to come. Every student would benefit from these pieces of furniture during one of the most loved times of the day: centers.

Thank you for taking the time to read about my students' current needs. I would like to provide them with new and high quality classroom furniture that I personally could not provide for them with my own resources. Your help will allow my students to complete activities without the interruption of breaking furniture. This furniture will be used for years to come, so your help will make a way for many students to use centers with age appropriate and sturdy furniture. Again, thank you for your consideration and for using your resources to enhance the education of today's youth.
