My picture shows my classroom turned into a camera! The students got to spend time INSIDE the camera watching images from outside our class being projected on the table tops and walls upside down and backwards. Although we are a high need high school, we do not lack in our photographic creativity and endeavors, and can't wait to be able to print out our images on a photographic printer.

From inside a camera - to a final image - can you help make this happen? My photography students and AP 2-D design students create amazing photographic and digital images on the computers, but we do not have a photo quality printer. At this point, students who would like to display a digital image, by either entering it in an art show, or putting one in their portfolio must go to a print shop and pay for this out of their own pocket. This of course limits not only who can afford to pay for a print and who can actually get to a print shop, but also the size of the image due to the cost per inch.

By purchasing a photo printer, and I specifically requested one that prints up to 13 x 19 inches, my students will be able to really show their imagination and creativity for others to enjoy. They will be able to place their images in their portfolios for when they visit college "portfolio critique days" and enter their images in a number of art shows available in our area that recognize artistic students, and sometimes actually have cash prices that my students use toward their college funding. As you can imagine, including actual prints of the art work in the portfolio will greatly enhance my students' experiences and chances of being accepted at art colleges as they visit the national art portfolio days.

I can't wait to hang these images in our Art Hall Gallery of student work, which up until now does NOT include digital imaging. My AP students can include their photographs and graphics in their annual AP Student Art Show housed in a local art museum gallery without the penalty of paying for it with personal funds. And I can't wait to post on this site an image of the gallery that includes some of these photographs printed on the Epson printer.
